ColorPage was first established in 1976 with the original name CopyLand. This was during a time when desktop computers and copy machines were not commonly found in an office environment. The founder, Loretta Campagna, started the company with two IBM Select typewriters, and two copiers, a Xerox 7000 and a Xerox 3100 LDC, both analog copiers.
CopyLand was the first copy-shop to open in Kingston, NY. It was located at 580 Broadway a, 600 sq. ft. storefront. The two person operation served small businesses, the Woodstock art community, as well as many local professionals seeking affordable same day secretarial and copy services. (During this period of time, prior to Xeroxing capability, businesses typically had to wait several days to get a short run of copies because they were printed on an offset press or letterpress by a small print shop)
In 1979, the business was relocated into a larger three story building located at 608 Broadway. In 1983, Loretta’s eldest son Frank Campagna became manager of the growing copy shop and in 1986 purchased the company on a loan from his parents.
Just a few years later, Campagna had fully committed the company into the fast paced “Quick Print” industry. This was a time when the demand for affordable short run, fast printing was high. Much of the company’s growth was driven by customers having access to new desktop publishing technologies allowing them to affordably design artwork for flyers, brochures, pocket folders and more. To keep pace with the demand, CopyLand expanded onto the second floor of the building with new printing equipment being rigged in through 2nd story windows.
Around this time CopyLand obtained a Sub-Chapter S status and incorporated under the name Tri-State Associated Services, Inc. with CopyLand remaining as the DBA.
With the rise of the internet, Campagna takes the company in a new direction and enters a market that was yet to be fully discovered… The short run book printing was new and there were countless authors across the nation seeking book design and printing guidance to self publish their manuscript.
Adjusting to the changes in times, the name CopyLand was no longer fitting for a company that was now primarily producing high volumes of offset printing, quality laser printing and offering a multitude of binding operations. In 1994, a name change was needed, and the company’s customer-facing DBA was changed to Tri-State Litho.(Litho short for Lithography) Further expansion led to the purchase of a new building located at 81 Ten Broeck ave In Kingston. This building was more suitable for print manufacturing and allowed for continued expansion with an addition added in 1998. This is the current location of the company.
In 2005, technology continued to force change. It was necessary once again to reevaluate our services provided based on what customers were seeking. The demand for more color, a digital evolution, the internet, and a younger buyer really dated the name Tri-State Litho. This is when ColorPage was formed.
Since that time, ColorPage has grown into one of the area’s leading marketing and publishing service providers. The company’s digital offerings, as well as its digital printing and mailing services, continue to grow & adapt in an ever-changing market.
